it was perfect before- but now whatever reason this come up: "Hello- you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe s Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." I have both of the programs- and they running too. I downloaded Mozilla (i have explorer originaly) but that s not helping eather.
please somebody give me an idea-how can i check my set ups- that must be the problem. (the same videos and sites are workning on my other computer).

i have a text box and enter a any word. i click a button and it chooses one of the letters in the string randomly. how would i do this. thanks

I am using a linux/Apache/Php server on an intranet and i need a way of passing the clients logged in username (windows xp) to the server- dont mind using javascript or anything that would require no further installation- Just to clarify i dont need the username logged into the server just the client machine.

Thanks in advance for the help

I want to learn a programing language- but I m not sure what to learn first. I have a basic understanding of html but that s about it. My goal is to eventually be able to write my own programs or to be able to create/ edit an operating system or some thing along those lines. But I m not sure where to start- java- javascript- c++- etc. What should I learn first?

Also- what books should I buy to help learn how to write this language? I know about the website w3schools but I would prefer be able to have a hard copy of a book in my hand than use a web site.

Thanks
so far i ve gotten some good answers- mostly c++- so is there anything that I need to know if I start with c++?

A website development company wishes to allow developers to have unlimited access to websites- but is concerned about security. What should the company do to reduce security risks from websites running JavaScript?

E-mail a listing of tested and safe websites to all employees and have them use this list prior to visiting any websites.
Adjust browser settings so that the user must authorize any downloading or use of JavaScript.
Increase security on the network by blocking the download of HTTP and SMTP attachments.
Install application firewalls on each computer designed to filter all HTTP and SMTP traffic from the Internet.
